Writing Coach - Point Avenue

Writing Coach

Middle School | Age 11-13

Course Overview

Point Avenue’s Ink program is designed to develop and grow students academic and creative writing skills.

The primary goal of the Ink course is to help students build foundational writing skills through western and contemporary teaching styles, and foster the important 21st century skills of creative and critical thinking.

Academic and creative writing styles, two core components of this course, complement each other in exercising different thought processes and methods for conveying messages in written format.

Students will focus on refining the communication of resources - both known and assumed fact (academic) as well as create original written content (creative).

The course texts (National Georgraphic and Word Roots) serve as a resource and guide in order to facilitate proper writing fundamentals.

This course will also strive to develop a love of writing for students through choosing interesting topics related to their interests and passions.
