Course Overview

Point Avenue’s Elementary Debate (Beginner) course introduces students to Public Speaking and the basic concepts used in Debate. They will be provided with and apply techniques that will help them to communicate effectively, enhance their critical thinking, and deliver an engaging speech to an audience. Students will be coached on how to research and discuss a variety of topics to enhance their understanding and be given ample opportunities to offer their own opinion. Also, students will be challenged to explore and support opinions that differ from their own.
