Course Overview

The SSAT is an academic readiness test intended to measure a student’s critical reading, quantitative reasoning, and writing skills needed for academic success at the high school level.

Skills Acquired

Quantitative Reasoning: algebra, geometry, measurement, and data analysis and probability.

Reading Comprehension questions evaluate a student’s ability to identify main ideas, themes, tone, and to understand the author’s purpose.

Verbal Reasoning tests vocabulary and the ability to relate ideas through identifying synonyms and interpreting analogies.

Course Objectives

  • SSAT Upper 101
    SSAT 101 is an intensive introductory course, familiarizing students with the test and all of the essential skills they will need. The course emphasizes vocabulary expansion, critical reading & analysis, and successfully interpreting word problems and SSAT match concepts.
  • SSAT Upper 201 (1500 - 1950)
    Students who complete 101 and haven’t yet reached their target score will move into 201. At this level, students will focus on increasing their endurance and honing the skills and strategies they learned in 101 through review and heavy practice. Students will be guided to master more challenging academic reading texts and verbal reasoning concepts.
  • SSAT Upper 301 (1950+)
    301 follows the same principles as 201, with less emphasis on learning skills and more emphasis on focused practice, building endurance, and filling the final gaps in students’ test understanding and mastery.
