Course Overview

The Life Coaching Advanced course focuses on aspects of self-awareness, mindfulness, and community service. In this course, students will learn about mindfulness skills and concepts through a step-by-step process, focusing on understanding themselves and others when making decisions and acquiring knowledge. This course establishes a foundation for critical thinking skills for students to build upon as they prepare for high school and beyond. Key example lessons include: focused awareness, sharpening the senses (mindful taste, touch, smell, sight), optimism, gratitude, and kindness. In addition to MindUP, students will plan a community service activity, exercise each week for 60 minutes, and complete a daily journal.

  • Point Avenue Daily Journal
    For this course, each student is required to maintain a journal that we supply them. Inside they are to keep track of daily goals, notable events, lessons learned, and things they are grateful for. The purpose of these journals is to measure effort in making personal growth intentional, as well as to teach students daily self-reflection in order for them to improve and grow their perspectives.
